Florence, South Carolina (WBTW) – The first event of its kind took place in Florence on Sunday morning. The organizer of Florence’s premier drug brunch said it sold all tickets for the event.
“Drugs are an art and these people are artists. They take great pride in their work. They enjoy making people laugh and having a fun experience,” said the organizer. One person, Josh Kohoon, said. “It’s a great time to combine it with a branch.”
Cohoon organized a brunch with partner Alex Carraway. It seems that more than 150 people have come.
“I think the Florentine audience wants to have a good time, they want to have a good time,” said Patty Offerniture, who hosted the brunch. “They are ready to go out and enjoy such entertainment in a safe and enjoyable environment.”
O’Furniture started playing with drugs 22 years ago. A university professor, she said drug brunch was a very different experience from traditional drug shows.
“During the brunch, we can go to each table, see smiles, see excitement and energy,” said O’Furniture.
Cohoon and Carraway said LGBTQ is not very well known in Florence. They hope that the success of this event will lead to something like that.
“We started bringing something here in Florence and hopefully we wanted to keep it going,” said Kohoon. “Next year may be a festival for Pride Month. That’s what it’s like to bring the community together.”
“I hope it’s the first of many successful drug branches we’re doing here,” O’Furniture said.
Five of the top drag queens in North Carolina and South Carolina performed on brunch. It was held at Staybridge Suites Hotel.
