Tampa, Florida (CW44 News At 10) – A man in Florida was convicted of dying and possessing fentanyl with the intention of distributing it.
Brandon’s Christopher A. Defilippis, 43, was convicted on Tuesday, June 8.
Due to Defilippis’ previous drug conviction, he faces life imprisonment in federal prison. His sentencing trial is scheduled for September 8, 2021.
Defilippis was indicted on November 17, 2020.
From March to April 2020, Defilippis distributed heroin in Hillsborough County, according to evidence submitted at the trial. On April 17, 2020, Defilippis distributed fentanyl, causing a fatal overdose. An agent at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office immediately began monitoring Defilippis and witnessed him distributing drugs throughout Hillsborough County on April 18, 2020. Law enforcement officers called Defilippis. He was arrested and found to be in possession of fentanyl, cocaine, and packages matching the distribution.
The Hillsborough County Autopsy Department performed an autopsy and determined that the use of fentanyl was the cause of the victim’s death. It also turned out to be very similar.
