Tampa, Florida (WFTS)-Marlon Wood is a man of many talents and many names.
He is a teacher, hip-hop star, former football star at the University of Washington, a military veteran, and the legendary son of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He passes by Mr. Wood, Bruce Wayne, The Dark Knight.
“Music gives me the opportunity to share my experience, both good and bad,” says Wood.
During the day he Bradenton IMG AcademyHelps student athletes with different learning gain knowledge and intelligence.
“I’m just trying to create positiveness in their lives,” he says.
He is also a rising star in the music world His hip-hop video has more than 1 million views on YouTube, His powerful and uplifting songs have been streamed millions of times online.
His signature? Clean and positive lyrics intended to inspire his students and fans, and colorful gloves that represent his sporting past.
“I want to make good, positive music,” he says. “It doesn’t matter if it’s hip hop, rap, country or rock, I’m going to make it.”
Wood’s music highlights his ups and downs, including the career of a frustrating athlete hurt by an injury. He also had a tryout with the Buccaneers, but was unable to reach the next level.
Wood grew up from Sinatra to Michael Jackson, surrounded by sports, Batman comics and beautiful records. This is all thanks to his father and football legend Bucks linebacker Richard “Batman” Wood.
His father instilled in his son a strong pride in where you live and what you believe.
“For me, it humbly accepts where I came from,” says Wood.
