Tampa, Florida — Tampa teens Invited Hillsborough County Congressman to graduation After hitting a patrol car on the interstate highway.
Eighteen-year-old Quintin Montgomery said he was driving a Tampa I-275 and the traffic suddenly stopped. He collided with the car in front of him.
“I was on my way to work. I was driving on Route 275 and trying to get into the downtown lane,” Montgomery said.
The lieutenant was not injured, but he got out of the car and checked the other drivers.
“He was really upset,” said the sergeant. Vance of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. “I just tried to calm him down and told him it wasn’t a big deal. It was a coincidence. These things always happen.”
According to Montgomery, the two had been talking for at least an hour, but were waiting for another agent to arrive and complete the accident report. Montgomery did not receive the ticket.
A teenager invited the Vice President to a graduation ceremony on May 28 at Jefferson High School.
“I told her I had to graduate the next day, but I wasn’t sure if they would actually come to my graduation,” Montgomery said. “I feel like they care about my safety. I wasn’t injured, but I think they care about my safety.”
Vance said the teens weren’t distracting or speeding up. Both vehicles had minor damage.
She was able to congratulate him on attending Montgomery’s graduation ceremony.
“These little moments that have a little impact on someone’s life. Hopefully I’m happy to be able to do it for him,” Vance said.
“I wasn’t injured, but they came to see me and felt like they really care about my health,” said Montgomery. “Driving safely. please.”
