Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — Where Keith Francis met at a baseball stadium Jacob Dinginger..
“When I first saw Jacob, he was a freshman, and he shook very well that day. I was impressed by several hits with some older kids.”
Looking back on his years of teaching heroes at the Canyon del Oro baseball stadium, Francis can only express his gratitude.
“Thank you. Thank you for being in my life because you made it better, and even through your death you made it better,” he said.
Francis himself is a first responder and is still working on what happened nearly two weeks ago.
The left-handed batter was eventually fatally shot at work during a lit fire.
“I was crushed. I couldn’t believe it. I just don’t believe it today. I know it happened, but it’s very scary,” Francis said. ..
On the scene, Francis said there were two rules. To act on time.
He said Jacob illustrated both.
“He came to work every day [and] He didn’t complain about what he had to do. [He] He was always a job and, from a coaching point of view, he was a great person to be around, “he said.
Standing in the field today, memories were poured in for Francis.
“I’m certainly full of memories, with him,” he recalled.
