Twenty years after a series of deaths in a Missouri district hospital, a former worker was charged with murder.
Chillicothe Hospital experienced 18 “code blue” cases during the five months that Jennifer Ann Hall was a respiratory therapist at the Hedrick Medical Center, police investigators said. This usually indicates cardiac arrest.
The hospital has historically averaged one such sudden heart event each year.
Nine of the patients died and nine recovered.
Approximately 20 years after her death, a prosecutor in Livingston County said Fern Franco died from a lethal dose of the muscle relaxant and painkiller morphine.
Hall’s lawyer says she didn’t have access to those or other medicines.
It is unclear whether Hall will face additional murder charges for other deaths that occurred during the five months he worked at Hedrick.
She has been acquitted and has been acquitted.
Hall’s lawyer Matt O’Connor says he will seek ties so that his clients can receive chemotherapy for leukemia.
The request hearing is scheduled for May 27th.
