Former live oak high catcher Blaze Pristar is very good at hitting fastballs. But last week, Pristar made a change-up when he wasn’t selected for the Major League Baseball draft.
However, Pristar responded on Saturday with a terribly impressive curve. He announced plans to sign LSU on Twitter. Priester signed a contract with the Mississippi-based Meridian Community College last fall.
“I would like to thank Coach Sudduth and Meridian CC for giving me the opportunity,” Priester said on Twitter. “But after a lot of prayer and discussions with my family and coaches, I decided to continue my academic and athlete career as an LSU Tiger.”
The 6-foot-2,210-pound Pristar will be the latest player on the LSU roster. This roster seems to be evolving daily with inbound and outbound transfers as new head coach Ja Johnson settles.
As a senior, Pristar led the Eagles to the third playoff seed in Class 5A with an average batting average of .426. While hitting the lead-off, he had 10 home runs, 8 doubles, 6 triples and 44 RBIs.
Pristar also threw 12 of the 22 base runners. He is a Class 5A-4A All-Metro MVP and has also won a Class 5A State Honor Student.
Prior to the MLB draft, Pristar was listed among the top 200 prospects by multiple scout services. He is now joining the prominent Alex Milazzo of former Zachary in the LSU Catcher Stables.
