Ossipee, New Hampshire (AP) — A New Hampshire grand jury has charged a former summer camp counselor for sexually abusing campers under the age of 16 during the three summers 2001-2003.

The complaint in Carroll County was released Tuesday with two counts of exacerbated and ferocious sexual assault against Matthew Skabit, 37, West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The message was left on the possible phone numbers of Scavitto and the lawyer. Told the Boston Globe That Scavitto denies the claim. Scavitto will face a prosecution on December 2.

The suspected victim was identified only by his initials, but a lawyer representing him in a statement on Tuesday identified him as a person allegedly abused at Camp Tecumseh in Mortonbara.

A former camper van filed a lawsuit against the camp in November 2020, alleging a camp leader, and staff were unable to protect him and other campers from Skabit. The case was resolved in March and the camper withdrew the complaint.

“I had the opportunity to deeply apologize for the abuse experienced by the former camper van and convey those feelings directly,” the camp said in a statement on Tuesday night. “We have been working with the Mortonborough Police since 2015. We are deeply grateful to the law enforcement agencies for their efforts to bring Scavitto to justice.”

“Internally, we have made extensive efforts to prioritize accountability and respond in a value-based manner that promotes the safety and well-being of motorhomes,” the statement added.

Globe reported that from 1994 to 2014, Camp stated that Scavitto was a camper and later a counselor.

In 2015, Skabit, a former teacher and coach at the Phelps School in Pennsylvania, was found guilty of systematic sexual assault and the corruption of minors after two students at the school accused him of assault. I admitted. According to court records, he was sentenced to at least 11 months in prison.
