Atlanta (CBS46)-Another candidate may soon be added to the Georgia Governor’s election.
Former Senator David Purdue is rumored to announce the governor’s first bid for Governor Brian Kemp this week.
Governor Kemp sent the following statement to CBS News:
The man who lost Republicans in the U.S. Senate and awakened last year’s surge in inflation, border openings, runaway government spending, and a culture of cancellation to the American people is now the national face of a radical leftist movement, Governor of Georgia. I want to lose my office. It may be difficult for David Padew to see this over the gates of his coastal estate, but Joe Biden’s dangerous agenda is to hit hard-working Georgians into his purse and endanger their lives. We are all grateful to David Padew. His campaign in the US Senate couldn’t inspire voters in the ballot box, so running is to relieve his own injured ego-2 times. Governor Kemp has a solid track record of fighting the radicals left behind to prioritize hard-working Georgians. Purdue, on the other hand, is best known for ducking the debate by filling his stock portfolio during a pandemic and losing a winning race.
Backed by former President Donald Trump, Purdue will make a video announcement on Monday, submitting official documents, sources said.
This decision will be made a few days after Democrat Stacey Abrams announces that he will run for his second governorship.
Perdue served in the US Senate from 2015 to 2021.
He lost to Senator John Osov in the January 2020 elections.
