At a special meeting on Wednesday, June 1, the US $ 373 Board of Education approved Williams as the new coach.

“We are looking forward to a new era of railer basketball by hiring Demetric Williams,” Caleb Smith, principal of Newton High School, said in a news release. “He brings our students a unique level of knowledge of games and skills.”

Williams is one of the most winning shockers in the history of WSU basketball. He played in the team from 2009 to 2013.

Williams has been coaching the junior national team at Wichita South East, coaching staff for the ESPN TBT Basketball Tournament in Aftershock, and has been the AAU Basketball Coach since 2016.

He recently worked for companies such as Cargill and Koch Industries in Wichita.

“I look forward to leading the boys’ basketball program by joining the Railer family and creating a culture based on guiding principles,” says Williams.

He will start coaching this fall.
