Franklin, Tennessee (WKRN) – A former lieutenant in Williamson County has been charged with a felony of misconduct as a result of an investigation.
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the agent began investigating Deputy John Edward Vandewud III in April. During the course of the investigation, the agent developed evidence that Vande Oud mishandled the information in the rape case from Franklin. Mishandling of information could benefit a friend of Vande Woude, who was a criminal suspect.
On Wednesday, a Williamson County grand jury returned the indictment and charged Vande Oud with one of the official illegal acts.
Vande Woude was arrested Thursday and subsequently released at his own discretion.
