Tampa, Florida — For more than 100,000 students in Hillsborough County this year, basic supplies such as pencils and crayons are not available on the first day of school.
That’s why Hillsboro Education Foundation (HEF) is a very important resource for Bay Area public school teachers and financially vulnerable students.
Mostly thanks to that Education Tools Resource Center (Consider a free Staples store), HEF distributed $ 2.7 million in supplies to Title 1 schools last year.
This is enormous for teachers who routinely spend hundreds of dollars of their own money each year to fill the gap in the student supplies they need.
“If you allow title 1 school teachers to start the year knowing that every student has the supplies to succeed, you’ll have one less worry,” said HEF’s highest school. The person in charge, Michael McCollum, says.
But because of the pandemic, this year HEF.
Tampa’s nonprofits usually rely on corporate and inhabitant-sponsored donations and face-to-face supply activities, all of which have been hampered by quarantine and social distance.
The Foundation is late, but it still needs to serve the same number of students at the Title 1 school. So it is reaching out to local businesses and residents to boost it.
Through online and live fundraising, which is back again this year, HEF plans a big backlash this year.
