Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (WBTW) — As Thanksgiving holidays approach, authorities are recommending people to be tested for COVID-19 before gathering with friends and family.
“With Thanksgiving imminent, it’s very important to test whether people are here or elsewhere. Really education and information are the keys to making important decisions for families. That’s why we’re doing it today. That was the inspiration for doing this, “said Russell Fly.
Congressman Fry hosted the “Turkey Pre-Test” event at St. James High School from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 21st.
“Some studies do show that up to 40% of people are asymptomatic carriers, so even if you don’t have symptoms, getting a COVID test before meeting with your family can help. It’s very good and important information to know, “said Congressman Fry.
People who came to the site today said they did so for safety around friends and family.
“We are supposed to go to Atlanta and spend Thanksgiving with them. I thought it was a good idea to take the test. They are also being tested so we are all committed. “Mike Cousins said.
“Take a test to make sure it’s safe for me to be around my family, make sure I don’t respect my family and friends around this week, and make sure I’m okay to go I will, “said Dolores Ryodo.
Congressman Fry said those who took the test today would receive the results within 48 to 72 hours.
