Colorado Springs — When was the last time you looked up at the night sky?

If you or your kids are fascinated by space and are interested in being able to name our constellations, the Space Foundation Discovery Center will host a Starwatch Party on Thursday night, and you will attend. You don’t need a telescope to do it!

The center wants to allow kids and space enthusiasts to explore what’s around them, using everything we already have, like mobile phones.

Starting Thursday night at 6pm, we’ll be hosting a free virtual starwatch party on Facebook, led by space education specialist Jeff Gonyea.

For more information on the event, please visit our Facebook event page.

He can point out the various constellations and sights of our night sky, and basically Gonyea uses his telescope to show you what he is seeing and if you don’t All you have to do is continue from the screen comparing what you are and see where you are.

“Most things that revolve around space education can be removed from the screen,” explained Gonyea. “And that practical, we put it in a world where we love to touch it, and it involves children and their parents.”

Gonyea also answers the question in the comments.

The Space Foundation Discovery Center also hosts an “astronaut-like training” virtual program. The program allows children to use surrounding tools to recreate the exercises that astronauts have to do.

Next is January 27th, with a registration fee of $ 6, and will be back to fund the center’s educational activities.

More information on this program and other upcoming events can be found here on the Center’s website.
