The traditional French Open schedule has been disrupted by a coronavirus pandemic for the second consecutive year.
According to the organizers, the Clay Court’s Grand Slam tennis tournament will be delayed by a week due to the surge in virus incidents in France.
The French Open was scheduled to start on May 23, but now it will start on May 30.
The French Tennis Federation states that decisions have been made to maximize the chances of an event “in front of as many spectators as possible” in a safe environment.
Last year’s tournament was postponed to September due to a health crisis, limiting the number of spectators to 1,000 per day.
