According to French media reports, French police arrested Saudis suspected of being involved in the killing while journalist Jamal Khashoggi was preparing to board a plane to Riyadh.

Arrest occurs days after French President Emmanuel Macron Visit Saudi Arabia To improve the relationship with Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Police officials told FT that a man arrested for murder in Turkey was detained at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Tuesday and tried to board a plane to the capital of Saudi Arabia. French prosecutors added that if he disputed the warrant, he would have to decide whether to continue his delivery to Turkey or detain him.

French RTL radio and AFP have identified the man, adding that police are still confirming his identity. They said the alleged murder of the Interpol warrant issued by Turkey was related to the murder of Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia denied responsibility for the killing of Prince Mohammed and claimed it was a fraudulent operation.

The kingdom later sentenced eight people to imprisonment for murder, without publicly naming them. Two senior aides suspected of being involved in the killing of Khashoggi, Prince Mohammed’s aide Saud Alcatani and Deputy Intelligence Director Ahmad Asiri, have been released from fraud.
