Wichita, Kang (KSNW) — Lakepoint Wichita residents spent an afternoon full of peanuts and cracker jacks.
Friends University’s baseball team headed to the lakepoint field, or rather the courtyard, to practice playing the ball on Thursday.
“It’s a good pastime, it’s something different. It’s great to see,” said a resident with a lake point.
Residents and baseball players were delighted to leave after the coronavirus continued to catch them.
“We’ve been pretty isolated in our apartment,” said a Lake Point resident.
“We are excited to be here,” said assistant coach Zack Biery. “This is one of the things we couldn’t really do with COVID-19 last year.”
The players and residents were able to interact after the practice.
“I actually met someone in my hometown,” said Ricky Hockett, a senior baseball player in Plainville.
The Friends University baseball team is hosting a graduate match on Saturday, October 9th.
Their first official match of the season will take place on Tuesday, October 12, at Westsidefield vs. Butler Community College.Click for the full schedule here..
