After the horrific murder of last year George Floyd, I frankly had a wide range of humble conversations with my bank minority colleagues. I would like to thank everyone for having a very open and honest experience. Despite the great efforts of the organization over the last decade or so, it was clear that there was not enough progress in diversity and inclusion, especially in the area of ethnicity. And it goes against that background that I asked for a review of ethnic diversity and inclusion announced today with other governors and courts (our board of directors).
The· Review Despite efforts to increase diversity and inclusion at the World Bank, it turns out that there are still significant disparities between ethnic minority colleagues and their white colleagues in group life experiences, career opportunities and outcomes. I did. The purpose of the review is to help all of us, including myself, better understand the current situation and what we need to do to meet tomorrow’s ambitions. Its ambition is to create a truly diverse and comprehensive bank where all colleagues, regardless of their personal characteristics, can reach their full potential. It is no exaggeration to say that such ambitions are mission-critical for all organizations.
