Gabby Petito: Autopsy as the fiancée search continues | Florida

A coroner in North Port, Florida, was planning to perform an autopsy on the body found in Wyoming on Tuesday to determine if it was Gabby Petit, a 22-year-old “vanlife” traveler. Missing person..

Survey of archaeological sites found in remote areas of the Western Bridger Titon National Forest on Sunday WyomingIt was to be done when police and FBI agents searched for Petit’s fiancé, Brian Laundry.

Investigators call the 23-year-old Laundry an “interested person.” They last met him a week ago when he told them that his parents were planning to hike alone in the wilderness of the 24,000-acre Carlton Reserve near Northport. I told the FBI agent.

Northport police stopped the search there after “running out all the roads” on Monday. But on Tuesday they said they were looking for a swamp reserve again.

Investigators spent a lot of Monday Find a laundry house, Load the cardboard box into the van and tow the silver Ford Mustang.

Petito and Laundrie left their home state of New York in late June or early July, headed west in a white van, visited national parks, and recorded their trips on social media.

Laundry returned to Northport alone on September 1st in a van. Ten days later, a member of Petit’s family reported her missing. Before disappearing, the laundromat refused to talk to the investigator and hired a lawyer.

Witnesses last saw Petit leaving the hotel in Salt Lake City on August 24th. The next day she posted her last photo on social media. Her family believes she headed to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming the last time she contacted her.

The body was found at the edge of the park, less than 1,000 feet away, where two travel bloggers photographed a white van parked on a dirt road near Spread Creek on the night of August 27. ..

An FBI spokesman said the body was “consistent” with a 5’5 inch, 110-pound petit. Autopsy was expected to identify the body and determine the cause of death.

In seeking a search warrant, investigators quoted the August 27 text that Petit allegedly sent to his mother Nicole Schmid. It describes repeated phone calls and voice messages from Petit’s grandfather “Stan”.

Schmidt told investigators that the message was strange because young women usually don’t call their grandfather in their own name. Petito’s family says the second text message also seems suspicious.

Talk to CBS Dr. Phil’s show In an interview aired on Monday, Joseph Petit said Laundry and his daughter had been dating for two and a half years, and Laundry “always respected.”

In an interview recorded before the body was found in Wyoming, Petit said the couple had previously successfully traveled to California. This time, Joseph Petit said the family began to worry a few days later without contact from her daughter.

“We called Brian, our mom, our dad, our sisters, and all the numbers we found,” he said. “The call was not made and no text message was returned.”

Joseph Petit said he hopes to be held accountable for any role he has played in the disappearance of his daughter, along with his family to protect him.

“I hope they get what’s coming, and that includes his people,” he said. “Now they are collusion in my book as well, as I tell you.”

Last week, police in Moab, Utah released body camera footage of August 12, when two police officers encountered Petito and Laundrie.

Petit sobs as she explains the quarrel with the laundromat that she sometimes says she has become physical. Police did not detain the couple, but they claimed to spend the night separately, spending the night in a van and a laundromat in the hotel.
