Renton, WA (AP) — Geno Smith has learned to work patiently as a backup quarterback. When he steps into the Seattle Seahawks starter role, he hopes it will be rewarded in the next few weeks.

Smith will start for the first time in four years on Sunday night when the Seahawks will face the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played against the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth quarter of last week and thrived trying to lead the rally in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.

Currently, he has been practicing for a week preparing to become a starter for the first time since December 2017.

The kick-off in Pittsburgh is 5:20 pm Pacific Standard Time.
