The organizer of an effort to bring back district attorney George Gascon collected petition signatures in his neighborhood on Saturday and set them up in front of a school opposite his home in the Naples district of Long Beach.
Recall supporters gathered “dozens” of signatures on the sidewalk in front of Naples Elementary School in block 5,500 in East the Toledo. Organizer Karen Roseberry told City News Services.
“He needs to be aware that law-abiding citizens are frustrated,” Roseberry told CNS. “On the very day he vowed to keep the law, he ordered him to ignore the law.”
She explained to the CNS that it was the mother of the victim of the crime who voted for Gascon last November at the signature collection event.
“She didn’t know that his instructions would drive the murderer out early.”
It was unknown if Gascon was at home at the time of the event. Roseberry said he didn’t come out to talk to the recall’s supporters.
The recall organizer needs to collect 580,000 qualified signatures by October 27, she said. The group will try to collect 750,000 to 800,000.
