Pauly’s Island, SC (WBTW) — The chairman of the Georgetown County Election Commission is investigating for stealing or damaging the signboard of the Pauly’s Island Trump campaign.

Georgetown County Republicans and members of the 7th Parliamentary GOP said they met a man who wanted Trump’s campaign sign to be placed in his yard, according to the incident report.

As the sign continued to disappear, the man placed a deer camera in his yard, captured Rita Granito Smith, wife of Georgetown County Election Commission Chairman Dean Lyle Smith, and took one of the signs. , I wrote “Dump” on another sign.

According to the incident report, Dean Smith was identified as the person who drove his wife and destroyed the sign.

The person who provided the photo to the Georgetown County Republican Party and the 7th Parliamentary GOP sent the photo anonymously in a text message, the agent said.

Jason Leslie of the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said the couple had been charged with theft and vandalism. According to Tommy Crosby, SLED is investigating the case.

Dean Smith has not returned a request for comment on his position as chairman.
