Nashville, Tennessee (WSMV)-Germantown staples are preparing to welcome customers in the weeks following being forced to close doors for almost two years.
Sean Lyons is a managing partner of Germantown Cafe. He said they are planning to welcome customers in November. Lions added that the reopening would be phased.
“Finally, we’re almost very exciting,” Lions said.
The double blow to the restaurant began with a tornado in March 2020. After that, due to the pandemic of COVID19, the restaurant that has existed for about 20 years was closed.
“A tornado struck the building. The entire roof of the building collapsed, everyone left the building, and there were problems with insurance and building renewals. Then there was a Covid and everything expanded,” Lions said. Said. “What was supposed to take about 6 months has been extended to 2 years, which is difficult for a restaurant with two consecutive instances.”
But now the cafe is starting to look like it used to be, but it has a new aesthetic. According to Lions, customers can expect an old feel when they reopen, but there are some new additions.
“The first thing we have is new. We have a window service, so we’re experimenting with a whole new concept outside the window. Whatever our neighborhood likes, we offer it. “The Lions said. .. “There’s a lot of technology built into the dining room itself. You can do it all on your mobile. You can do a few things, such as ordering drinks here and there, or traditional services. You can also use it. Touch your smartphone. “
The restaurant is still waiting for some equipment while they are preparing to reopen.
“We are still struggling with a lot of logistics in cross-country transportation. Products are coming in, equipment is coming in. Fortunately, we were lucky in some areas, but others. I wasn’t lucky in the area, “Lions said. “We strive to open as soon as possible so that all guests feel welcome again.”
Lions said they were looking for ways to connect with their neighbors. One of them was a “see it say it” campaign that drops people’s love notes. News 4 asked how the closure had affected the restaurant for almost two years.
“It was very hard. Fortunately, the owners of our building worked with us. They were great,” Lions said.
The restaurant will undergo a final inspection of the building early next week.
The November reopening plan will be phased in as we are waiting for some equipment. They start by opening the bar area first and then the dining room fully open.
