Glenpool Public Schools ‘require’ students and staff to mask-up – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa, Oklahoma 2021-09-09 13:36:41 –

Glenpool, Oklahoma — Students at Glenpool Public School must wear a mask at school starting Thursday. The announcement was made on the district website on Wednesday afternoon.

School leaders say the new rules are for the safety of children and the Glenpool community. The requirements apply to all students and staff in grades 3-12. Online students and staff have an opt-out option. These exemptions apply for medical, religious, or strong personal reasons.

Michelle York, parents of grades 5 and 7 in Glenpool, says they don’t mind having to wear masks as long as they’re in the classroom.

“Their homeschooling was really hard, so we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure the kids aren’t at home and have to do homeschooling,” said York. ..

The district has 3176 students and staff. According to the district’s latest update on the COVID dashboard, 789 people are positive or exposed to the school, which is 25% of the population.
