Dillon, South Carolina (WBTW) – One day before Independence Day, a local fireworks store worked overtime on Saturday to meet shoppers’ last-minute explosive needs.

Dillon’s Jabs Fireworks is open 24 hours a day to meet demand.

“I’ve been busy all night,” said Gavin Kelly, a Jabs employee. “Even at 3 or 4 am, there is still a line.”

Customers buy fireworks under names such as “Exterminator” and “Big Daddy,” Kelly said.

“The’hydrogen bomb’is $ 60 and 36 shots, and the’haifaluting’ is $ 50 and 49 shots,” he said.

Regardless of the price, he said, products are often sold as soon as employees can refill the shelves.

“We had some’Godfathers’ there-I think they’re close to grandeur-we’re gone soon,” he said. “It’s strange how quickly people come in, buy, and leave.”

According to Kelly, I’ve seen customers from all over the country stop by on their way down the East Coast, but most shoppers cross the North Carolina border and seek more money.

“I came to South Carolina from North Carolina because the fireworks in North Carolina aren’t as great as this,” said Teresa Wilson, who shopped with the whole family.

“North Carolina has small children,” said Michael Gomez. “It’s a drive, but it’s worth it.”

Gomez and Alexia Castillo said they had a second 90-minute drive to Jabs on Sunday. They said they spent about $ 2,000 on firepower.

“Most of these fireworks last only about 30 seconds, so make them bigger or go home,” Gomez said.
