Denver (Associated Press) — Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed three of the six gun bills passed at the latest legislative assembly on Saturday.
Denver Post report All bills were announced after a mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado on March 22, killing 10 people.
Earlier this year, Police signed two other bills, setting regulations on the safe storage of guns at home and requirements for reporting lost or stolen guns. Another gun bill aimed at keeping firearms out of the hands of domestic violent awaits the governor’s signature.
All three bills signed on Saturday will come into effect soon. They are:
-Before a person buys a gun, the background check needs to be expanded.
-Remove the ban that prevents local governments such as cities and counties from creating their own gun control. Local jurisdictions can only create ordinances that are stricter and less generous than state law. All regulations that are currently in force and have been relaxed will be overturned.
— Donate approximately $ 3 million to the Colorado Department of Health and Environment in the first year to establish the state’s first gun violence prevention office. This office is responsible for facilitating efforts to reduce gun violence.
