Gov. Stitt ‘condemns’ Oklahoma nonbinary birth certificate settlement – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa, Oklahoma 2021-10-21 11:57:52 –

Oklahoma City — Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt issued a statement on Thursday condemning the State Health Department’s reconciliation, which established a non-binary birth certificate option for newborns.

After Oklahoma resident Kit Lorelead from Oklahoma filed a federal proceeding against OSDH, Oklahoma joined 14 other states and the District of Columbia to establish a non-binary birth certificate process. NonDoc..

Stitt’s office called the settlement a “illegal” decision by the state and said it would “take all necessary actions to protect Oklahoma’s values and our lifestyle.”

“I believe that people are created by God to be men or women. Periods,” he said.

“There is no such thing as non-dual sex. I sincerely condemn the settlement of the OSDH court allegedly concluded by fraudulent activists who acted without proper approval or supervision.”

Oklahoma Senator Michael Bergstrom (R-Adair) submitted Senate Bill 1100 on Wednesday. This limits the gender options for Oklahoma birth certificates to men and women if the law is signed.

“I was convinced that the State Department of Health did not intend to add another gender option to my birth certificate a few months ago, but recently approved a non-binary option,” says Bergstrom.

“We are in a strange time in history where people seem to forget science and biology and throw common sense out the window. When babies are born, are they men based on chromosomes and genitals? Born in either woman. It’s ridiculous to allow others to appear on the birth certificate, so it’s time to clarify this by law. “

The Governor and Senator opposed non-binary status, sharing public office with the state’s first non-binary Senator, Molly Turner (D-Oklahoma City), elected by voters last November.

The next legislative session of the Senate is scheduled for February 7.
