Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (AP) —Governor Tom Wolf has hundreds of regulations approved by his administration over the past 15 months under the authority of the Pandemic Disaster Emergency Declaration, which resolved to end lawmakers on Friday. Signed a law to extend the exemption.
The bill allows the exemption to continue until September 30, unless the Wolf administration terminates the exemption sooner.
The Republican-controlled parliament unanimously approved the bill, at Wolff’s request, as a companion to a resolution written by the Republican Party to end a disaster emergency declaration that had passed largely in line with party policy.
Republicans have characterized their move to end the declaration as carrying out the will of the people in a state-wide referendum last month. In it, voters approved Republican-backed constitutional amendments, giving parliamentarians a wide range of new powers to extend and end disaster emergencies.
According to the Wolf administration, the resolution will not come into effect until at least next week. According to the Wolf Department of State, the four counties have not yet submitted signed certificates of election results from last month, which were scheduled for next week.
Suspended regulations cover a wide range of government requirements, including licensing, inspection and training.
The Wolf administration argues that the resolution of disaster emergencies will not affect the health minister’s disease prevention authorities, who issue masks, stay-at-home orders, and close schools and non-essential businesses.
In any case, the vaccine stopped the spread of the virus, and the wolf ended these measures. The exception is the obligation to wear masks for unvaccinated adults who follow federal guidance and will remain in place until June 28 or 70% of adults, whichever comes first.
