Grandma Wanda Dench, who invited wrong teen Jamal Hinton to Thanksgiving, shares 4th holiday with him – Fresno, California

Fresno, California 2020-11-21 11:35:31 –

Mesa, Arizona-Grandmothers and teens (now adults) in Arizona have continued the Thanksgiving tradition for years-all because of the text sent to the wrong person.

It all started when I thought that 63-year-old Wanda Dench was sending a text message to his grandson about the Thanksgiving dinner plan, but instead accidentally sent a text message to 21-year-old Jamal Hinton. ..

He asked for a photo to find out if it was his own grandmother behind the text. The photo was not of Hinton’s grandma, but of a woman with blonde hair and glasses.

“”[You’re] I’m not a grandma, “Hinton said with an emoji, laughing. [sic]?? “

“Of course you can,” Dench replied. “That’s grandma [sic] Do … feed everyone [cake emoji]””

The wrong message became a hot topic on social media and the two decided to meet in real life. Hinton has been joining Dench’s family for Thanksgiving every year since they were so much fun together.

Sadly, however, 43-year-old Wanda’s husband, Ronnie Dench, died in April of complications from COVID-19. Talking to “Good Morning America” on Thursday, Hinton called Ronnie “very supportive” and “good friend” of his accidental friendship with Wanda.

In July, Hinton posted a video on YouTube recording a dinner he and his girlfriend Mikaela shared with Dench.

“It’s been an attempt since Ron died of COVID-19 on April 5,” Dench said in a video, adding that she also tested positive for the virus. “I wish you all the blessings and condolences, and good luck to me.”

This year is the pair’s fifth Thanksgiving.

Hinton told GMA that he had been quarantined for two weeks so that he could meet Dench in person and spend a social vacation.

“It has become a big part of our lives,” Hinton said. “It’s part of something very affectionate, and it’s great to have people all over the world talk to us and be impressed with our story.”

The above media player video was used in a previous report.
