They have spent nearly 20 years studying elusive marine predators, from Santa Cruz to Tomales Point in Marin County to the Farallon Islands.
It seems that various environmental behaviors to protect living things are working.
“It shows that the ecosystem here is healthy,” said Taylor Chapple, a professor at Oregon State University. “It’s healthy enough to support, they’re healthy enough to support this population, this stable population of really big big apex predators.”
Each shark has its own dorsal fin, which makes it easy to track.
Scientists say that population growth does not mean we see more attacks.
