Greer, South Carolina (WSPA) —Riverside High School was temporarily put on hold this morning following reports from students in possession of weapons, according to Tim Waller, a spokesman for the Greenville County School.
According to Glia police, a resource officer at Riverside High School was informed that the student may have a pistol. Officials found a 14-year-old student nominated at the tip that informed them that they had placed their weapons in another student’s bookbag.
A second student was found, and the pistol was found in the “cinch bag” of his book bag.
A 14-year-old student who brought a pistol to school has been charged as a boy for possessing and illegally carrying weapons on the school grounds. The second student was not held criminally liable because he did not know that the pistol was in a book bag.
“Hold”, as opposed to “lockdown”, means that students and staff will stay there wherever they are when the hold is called. This means that students and staff will enter the classroom and lock the doors due to campus security threats. To Waller.
Riverside High School has resumed regular school days.
