The chain said 14,500 employees across the UK would receive wage increases in recognition of their “commitment and ongoing passion” during the pandemic.

Costa also aims to recruit more than 2,000 new workers in preparation for the busy holiday season with more store openings and higher consumer demand.

Starting in October, all store staff will receive a salary increase of at least £ 45 per hour, with a minimum wage of £ 9.36.

At the company’s Barista Maestro, wages will rise by £ 65 an hour, with a minimum of £ 10.29 for these experienced roles.

Depending on location and experience, maximum wages range from £ 10.64 to £ 11.29 per hour.
