Guardians place rookie OF Gonzalez on injured list – Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland (AP) — Cleveland Guardians Rookie outfielder Oscar Gonzalez was put on the 10-day injured list for abdominal problems.

This move was one of several moves made by the Guardian before playing the split doubleheader against the New York Yankees.

The 24-year-old Gonzales has empowered the team ever since he started out as a minor.

He has hit .285 with 2 home runs and 14 RBIs in 32 games.

Gonzales underwent an MRI on Friday.

The Guardians also recalled rookie left-handed Kirk McCarty to start the first doubleheader game and raise infielder Gabriel Arias from Triple A Columbus.

Relief James Karinchak was also activated from the 60-day IL and offered to Columbus as an option.
