Woodland Park — Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, a new family-friendly district is under construction at Woodland Park.
The organization’s volunteers and construction workers are working to provide more affordable housing for up-and-coming families in southern Colorado.
“We are very pleased to own a home again. A real dream has come true. We have a 17 year old son and we will be able to leave this wonderful home forever.” “The family is receiving one of the homes, said Connie Martin.
“We are building a sustainable and achievable concrete house from LEGO-like stacked insulated concrete blocks, just fill it with concrete,” said Keith Meyer, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Teller County. Said.
“We are designing these homes for teachers, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and essential workers in the town. Many of those types of people live in our community. I’m having a hard time finding a place, “Meyer added. “Our goal is to move the family to this by the end of August.”
When the project is complete, the family will own the house.
