TxDOT warns drivers that the two northbound lanes will be closed tomorrow and Friday morning at 9am.
Corpus Christi, Texas —Harbor Bridge traffic changed from bumper to bumper this afternoon. The jam was the result of the bridge being closed in multiple lanes as the crew conducted a safety inspection.
TxDOT officials said the two lanes to the right of highway 181 on the southbound side were closed today for these inspections. The lanes are now back to normal, but TxDOT warns drivers that the two northbound lanes will be closed tomorrow and Friday at 9am.
All work is done as the weather permits.
On Monday and Tuesday, April 12, 2013, the two lanes to the right of US181 South will be closed again.
On Wednesday, April 14, the two lanes to the right of US181 North will be closed. TxDOT said the closure could be changed to two south-right lanes, depending on the progress of previous work.
The Texas Department of Transportation has been actively inspecting Texas bridges for nearly 40 years.
All public bridges in the state that carry vehicle traffic, whether they are state-maintained roads or off-system roads such as county roads, undergo regular safety inspections every 24 months.
Drivers are encouraged to consider alternative routes, anticipate delays, track all traffic control equipment, and slow down in the work zone.
