Harrisonville, Missouri (KCTV)-The Harrisonville School District Board of Education has postponed to early Tuesday morning after an 11-hour hearing.

It concerns teachers accused of using racial and homophobic slur in the classroom.

The school board has completed a special session to determine the fate of high school science teacher John Magoffin. Tina Graef, president of the board, said no decision would be made on Tuesday morning.

Magoffin was accused of using inappropriate language in the classroom in a social media post by a district employee who is also the parent of the district’s children. They say Magoffin made hostile comments to the students during class.

According to a statement of accusation from the district, these allegations include the use of the word “n” and calling Martin Luther King Jr. Day “Black Privilege Day.” He is also said to have told the students that the class could not go for a walk during the mask break because she was black.

In addition, another claim includes Magoffin telling students that they should not be allowed to wear leggings because they can “see everything.”

Parents said they decided to speak after hearing about the accusation of one of his players against Olathe baseball coach, who was accused of creating a racial slur.

The Olathe Public Board of Education has fired a high school baseball coach who allegedly used racial slurs for black players.

Throughout the night, the school board spoke with several witnesses from both sides. School witnesses outlined evidence of the indictment, and Magoffin lawyers argued against them in a closing statement.

In the past, his lawyer clearly called the claim false.

The statement made at the overnight hearing is currently unknown, but KCTV5 News has filed a request for a statement to find more information.

If the board does not make a decision on Tuesday morning, they will decide another meeting time to do so.
