Hartsville, South Carolina (WBTW) – Governor McMaster stopped in Hartsville today to honor the mayor. He presented the Mayor of Pennington with the Knights of Palmetto, the honor of the state’s highest civilians. McMaster said Pennington had a great influence on his 12 years as mayor.
“I’m here today to admit that someone you know played an important role in the greatness of this-now you would have to say the” city “of Hartsville.” McMaster said. He praised Pennington for his involvement with local business groups and economic growth. Dozens of people attended the ceremony at Centennial Park.
“My wife and children have allowed me to put the city first, and I’m ready to go back,” Pennington said. He accepted the award with his family on his side. He thanked the staff and said their name should be included in the award.
“I love this city. Pennington said,” I love being able to cheerlead the best part every day. I wouldn’t have been here today except you were very supportive. ” Told. Pennington’s term ends in November this year. He does not ask for reelection.
The Knights of Palmetto recognize a lifelong contribution to the state.
