Omaha, Nebraska (KMTV) — For companies in some regions, it’s as happy as Haskar fans are thinking about spending the football season. It’s a lifeline. 3 NewsNow’s Serese Cole explains.
The potential season without football was scary for a store that sells all of Hasker football completely.
“I didn’t know what to do because it depends on the season,” said Brett White, shift manager at Haskerhounds.
Punch workers here at Haskerhound haven’t seen them come here.
The store was closed for three months due to a pandemic, followed by the Big 10 canceling fall football.
Sales were sluggish.
“For profit-we’re down 80 percent,” White said.
But now that the Huskers season has been saved, White is optimistic-and so will business.
Store traffic is on the rise-thanks to enthusiastic football fans like Cheryl Zeitz.
“I’m very excited. The whole of our family is excited,” Zeitz said.
That’s the excitement-it’s bringing Hasker’s loyal people back to stores and phones.
Telemarketing and online orders are also increasing, and business hours are expanding from this week.
This year is something new. There is a demand for upholstery as this season is where most fans watch the game.
“People want to get things for their homes. They want to get kitchen appliances and shower curtains so they can feel like they’re in the stadium,” White said. explained.
He knows that the best boost for business is the season of victory.
“We are waiting for them to return to victory in the championship,” said Sharon Degnan.
But for now, he’s grateful that Big Red let them see more green.
“Let Nebraska’s Hasker football come back-like Hasker Hound-stay here,” White said.
The head office is currently open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 9 pm on 84th Avenue.
Weekend business hours do not change.
