Hawaii Fire Department rescues five people out of Nuuanu Stream – Honolulu, Hawaii

Twenty firefighters pulled five out of Nuuanu Stream on Monday night after 911 callers reported several people struggling to get out of a torrent near the Paris highway.

The Honolulu Fire Department was sent to the stream on Monday at 8:24 pm after 911 callers reported that several were trapped in the water.

The first group of rescuers arrived at 8:28 pm and began looking for the two who reported that the 911 callers had seen in the stream. Firefighters found five people trapped in water. HFD personnel were able to strategically place them along the stream and pull out all five.

One was taken to the hospital by workers in emergency medical services and the other four were released. HFD did not report any other injuries.

Rescue took place about six hours after firefighters rescued five boys aged 9 to 10 who were washed away by the rainwater flowing through Palolo Stream. The boys went to the water behind Jarrett Middle School after school on Monday.
