Today, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) is under the U.S. Rescue Program for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide emergency housing vouchers to more than 700 homeless people and their families. Announced that it will allocate an additional $ 14.2 million. Risk of experiencing homelessness; I recently experienced homelessness. “This additional federal funding ensures that families who have lost their homes during the pandemic have access to their homes and provides definitive support to families struggling to stay home.” Senator Schatz, a member of the Senate Expenditure Committee, said.. “We are working hard to secure additional federal bailouts for Hawaii, but this funding will make a big difference.”
The $ 14.2 million new funding includes:
Hawaii Public Housing Corporation – $ 3.8 Million
Honolulu City and County – $ 6.5 Million
Big Island – $ 1.7 million
Maui County – $ 1.5 million
Kauai County Housing Agency – $ 503,868
Funding for the new American Rescue Plan is being allocated through an emergency voucher program that provides housing selection vouchers to local public housing authorities across the country.
