Daytime heating produces clouds and some showers on the leeward slopes of the Big Island in the afternoon and evening.
Rainfall can increase by the middle of the week.
At 800 pm Pacific Daylight Time, the center of the tropical cyclone Carlos was near latitude 11.9 degrees north and longitude 124.5 degrees west.
Carlos is moving west at nearly 7 mph, and this movement is expected to slow gradually as it turns west-southwest in the next 24-36 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are close to 40 mph and gusts are high.
Some enhancement is expected in the next 24 hours.
Strong tropical cyclone winds extend up to 25 miles outside the center.
