Hazelwood, Missouri (KMOV.com) – Police said a Hazelwood police officer killed a dog that attacked him on Wednesday night.

Hazelwood police said police officers were called into Anilo’s 1400 block to report a barking dog. The dog reportedly overwhelmed the owner and rushed to the police while the police contacted the dog’s owner.

According to police, the dog bit the policeman and inflicted several puncture wounds on the policeman’s arm. The policeman then shot the dog. Police officers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
