Approximately 150 cases of influenza have been reported in Nueces County, which was normal during this period. However, other viral infections have been shown to increase.
Corpus Christi, Texas — The flu season began in September, and since then the Corpus Christi Health District has reported a significant number of cases in Nueces County.
“According to the report given to us for Nueces County, it was probably about 150 cases of influenza,” said Dr. Kim Onufrac.
Dr. Onufrac said the numbers were normal in time, but she has seen some unusual numbers in other viral infections.
“There was an increase in RSV and an increase in cases of scientist enterovirus,” she said. “So, as soon as the mask command, social distance, and all those parameters were relaxed in people, we saw an increase in those cases as well.”
Choosing not to mask or getting the flu or COVID-19 vaccine can be a perfect storm, as COVID-19 is still mixed during the flu season. And Dr. Onufrac said she saw it in herself and in many patients.
“You can get both COVID and flu at the same time. You can get both influenza and RSV at the same time. You can get streptococcus, flu, and COVID. Therefore, you can get a combination of any of these diseases,” she said. I added. ..
Dr. Onufrac said it is safe to get both the flu shot and the COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.
