Boston (WHDH)-Boston (WHDH)-The Public Health Service reported 550 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

A total of 139,903 cases have been reported in Massachusetts so far, and 21 new deaths have increased the number of confirmed virus-related deaths to 9,503 across the state.

Currently 500 people are hospitalized. Currently, 88 people are being treated in the intensive care unit.

According to the CDC, symptoms of the coronavirus include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Reported global illnesses range from mild to severe illness and death.

The virus is thought to spread primarily from person to person, usually between people in close contact with each other, through the respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
