Baltimore Ravens legend’s son, Ray Lewis III, dies of suspected overdose | NFL

Ray Lewis III, the son of two-time Super Bowl champion Ray Lewis, has died, police said in an incident report detailing an alleged overdose.

Lewis died Wednesday after police officers were called to his home in central Florida and found him unconscious in his bedroom, according to the Casselbury Police Department.

Lewis is reportedly 28 years old. He played cornerback for two seasons at his father’s alma mater, Miami, before moving to the Coastal Carolina in 2015. He finished his career with the Virginia Union.

“Evidence and eyewitness testimony indicate that this was a tragic accident,” police said in a statement.

People in the home were attempting CPR on Lewis when police arrived Wednesday evening. The police report said officers had been advised by another individual that Lewis needed naloxone, an antidote for an opioid overdose, and administered it using Narcan.

Antidote and further life-saving attempts were unsuccessful. Police said Lewis was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead of a suspected overdose pending an official autopsy report.

Virginia Union coach Mark James said his former player was “a great kid.”

“He played hard and it was a pleasure to get to know him,” James told the Associated Press by phone Friday.

Lewis brother Larsaan Lewis posted on his Instagram story, “I can’t even believe I’m hitting this but rest in peace bro.”

James recalls Lewis as a cool-headed young man who worked hard and never acted like he was better than others, despite his father’s success in the Continental Army. NFL An outstanding figure and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“I think when we got him, he was ready to go to school, finish playing football and be an influencer,” James said. “He was a hard worker.”

For the Coastal Carolina, Lewis appeared in 12 games at cornerback and had 19 tackles. He had 37 tackles for the Virginia Union in 2017.
