Healthy eating places are still at the top of the game, with breakfast items, soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and quite a few baked goods and desserts to choose from.

Enjoy a healthy breakfast or brunch with dishes such as zoned omelets with egg whites, tomatoes and organic greens with sourdough toast. There are also many options for dinner. If you recently ordered a takeaway, we recommend miso salmon, a thick chunk of fish cooked to perfection. The garlic mashed potatoes and heaps of vegetables are beautifully finished. And PS, if you’re feeling raw green, French Meadow has one of the best-in-class Nikoise salads around (salmon at St. Paul’s location and yellowfin tuna at Minneapolis’s location. ).

Don’t get me wrong, I love fun and trendy sushi restaurants. But when asked about my favorite place for traditional Japanese cuisine, it’s the same since I first set foot in this place in the mid-’90s and fell in love with Sakura in downtown St. Paul. At Miyoko Omori’s Sakura Restaurant, you can enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine. And since Japanese eating habits are respected, eating out and doing something good for yourself is an excuse, isn’t it?

Last week, the sushi rolls on the menu were called. It’s almost impossible to get here without ordering my favorite spicy tuna roll, Spicy Tuna, at Twin Cities. Crispy spider rolls and fried soft shell crabs were also seen.

In addition to traditional Japanese cuisine, Sakura is trendy with the times, with special bread rolls that allow chefs to be fun and creative. There is a category that plays an ode to downtown St. Paul and Minnesota Wild Hockey. I needed a bit of sweetness to balance the spicy and crunchy rolls I ordered, so Lawson Rolls, a trio of fish with eel and sweet eel sauce, fit the bill.

Fans gather at this plant-based restaurant in St. Paul when they crave for diner-type dishes with a variety of meat alternatives. In addition to salads and veggie burgers, there are many other dishes besides meat at this spot, and you can enjoy comfortable dishes. Big Mac Burger’s Dirty Secret Meat Trestake is fun enough to be regular, but it’s fun to try other things with a pretty plant-based menu. A recent favorite discovery was a crunch wrap reminiscent of Taco Bell’s. Only meat is used in place of the taco-flavored Beyond Meat blend. The giant crispy grilled tostada wrap is even more flavorful thanks to peppers, marinated cabbage, vegan cheese and chipotle sour cream. We’re also happy to see that J. Selby’s menu includes chicken substitutes that are rare in restaurants, such as crispy chicken sandwiches and buffalo chicken wraps.

If you have a local outfit that responds to calls to address various food allergies and dietary restrictions while riding the trend, it’s agra culture. So it’s great to have this fast casual operation in several places within the metro that spotlights healthy and sustainable organic produce.
