Sacramento (CBS13) – Pack your patience. Early morning traffic is expected to be congested and the week begins as Highway 99 continues to be built to replace the deck of the old bridge.
“Everyone has to go to work,” said Ponse Zavala.
Traffic has been disrupted since Caltrans shut down 99 between the 47th Avenue and Highway 50 connectors on Friday night and replaced the deck of the old bridge on 21st Avenue.
“They are very crowded,” said Ponse Zavala.
Zavala on Sunday said he couldn’t imagine what the traffic would look like on Monday morning. He deals with drivers who are no longer familiar with it.
“It’s frustrating because there are so many people who can’t drive properly,” he said.
The crew installed a new girder on Sunday and was pouring a special type of concrete.
We wanted to know where the project is, as traffic is more annoying to drivers in the area than before.
“Well, if this was a basketball game, I think it’s actually behind the third quarter,” said Angela Da Prato, a spokesman for Caltrans.
The project is still on track and the news that Reed Crackel’s son-in-law loves to hear. He wakes up abnormally early just to get to work and expects to triple his driving time.
“My son-in-law, he must be there at 8 o’clock [a.m.] In Roseville. He will leave at 4 o’clock in time, “he said.
As for Ponce, he leaves the morning traffic to someone else by staying home until Wednesday.
“Good luck,” he said.
Closing is still scheduled to end at 4am on Wednesday
