Help build a farm stand and art gallery in North Long Beach Victory Garden on May 8th
Saturday, May 8th, 9am to noon Long beach fresh Invite community members to help build farm stands to distribute produce to the community. Part of the adjacent historic fire department will also be transformed into a community art gallery for exhibitions and shows. Artist Amy Tanakh will lead the construction process.
The garden is located on 6509 Gandley Avenue on 65th Avenue.

Long Beach Junior League Releases 90th Anniversary Cookbook
Long Beach Junior League Limited Edition Cookbook “JLLB Cookbook-Celebrating 90 Years of Life, Community and Cooking” is now available for pre-sale. Includes a story and over 100 tested recipes by 400 female volunteers from the Junior League.

The Junior League is a women’s organization focused on improving the community. The organization is currently participating in a project related to improving youth self-confidence and self-awareness, along with the Kids in the Kitchen Nutrition Program. The Junior League has helped launch more than 60 projects, including the establishment of the Long Beach Arts Council and the Casa Youth Shelter. There are 295 junior leagues in the United States, Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom, with 125,000 members worldwide.
Watch a virtual event about family reunification on May 8th
Newway of Life, an organization dedicated to providing resources to women released from prison, will host a free virtual event on Saturday, May 8th at 5 pm on family reunification.
According to the Marshall Project from 2006 to 2016, tens of thousands of children were placed in foster parents just because their parents were imprisoned. The custody of 5,000 of these children was eventually completely deprived.
Watch and hear the three journeys of a previously imprisoned woman and the battle to regain her children.

Learn about the Rapanui people on Easter Island at the Latin American Museum
Join MOLAA on Thursday, May 13th, from 6pm to 8pm, to discuss the unique situation of the Rapanui people and the island. Learn about the history of the region and hear film director Sergiorap talk about his experience growing up on the island and the motives behind his film “Eating Up Easter.”
The Virtual Discussion is part of the Museum’s Asia-Pacific Islanders Latin Festival in May, in partnership with the Pacific Islanders Museum and the Japanese American National Museum. The festival explores examples of cultural integration between Asian, Pacific Islanders and Latino communities.

LGBTQ + students living or attending colleges around Reichsgericht, attending the International Imperial Court of Long Beach for a $ 10 door donation on Sunday, May 23, at 7 pm Collect funds for. Scholarships are open to graduate from accredited college high school seniors and current students.
In 2020, the organization hosted the first United Waves Scholarship Awards, awarding $ 25,000 to students.
The Reichsgericht of Long Beach is the longest-running LGBTQ non-profit organization in the Long Beach area. Since its founding in 1971, more than $ 1,000,000 has been raised for the community.

Rock for Vets is a program that helps local veterans heal through music.
You can enjoy the concert from inside the car, or you can bring a lawn chair and sit in the designated parking lot. There are foods you can buy from local food trucks and raffles.
