Nashville, Tennessee (AP) — Expectations for Derrick Henry are already quite high, with a history of his strong stiff arms and long touchdown runs.

Last season’s rushing leader continues to take the Tennessee Titans back with him and find new ways to put himself at the top.

Henry took a direct snap and ran five yards for a touchdown at 3:30, but the Titans remained undefeated and defeated the Houston Texans 42-36 on Sunday.

“Obviously, I witnessed someone take over the game,” Titans coach Mike Vrabel said of Henry.

The Titans (5-0) finished with a record 601 yard attack in the franchise. It helped them overcome the two turnovers. Stephen Gostkowski blocked the field goal and missed another goal, while the defense handed over a 335-yard pass and four touchdown passes to Deshaun Watson.

Watson’s last TD pass raised Houston (1-5) to 36-29 with 1:50 remaining, but a two-point conversion attempt passed Randall Cobb but failed. Coach Romeo Clenell said he went to convert in his second match after the dismissal of Bill O’Brien to keep the match out of reach. Clenel also didn’t time out before the TD to win the game.

“The play actually took place, so we had to prepare,” Klenel said of Wildcat’s play.

Ryan Tannehill started three of his 19 career-winning drives this season, but drove the Titans 76 yards before finding AJ Brown with a 6-yard TD pass with 4 seconds remaining. .. Gostkovsky added points and the Texans took a squib kick to send to overtime.

Henry ran with a regulation of 202 yards, including a 94-yard TD run. During overtime, he took a 53-yard screen pass in his second play. He capped an 82-yard drive with 6 plays in the game’s second TD, finishing with a 212-yard rush and a 52-yard receive.

The Titan is 16-0 when Henry runs at least 100 yards. Henry was asked about his performance and continued to credit his teammates.

“I had to do my job,” Henry said many times.

The Titans are off to the second best start in franchise history since the franchise won its first 10 games in 2008. Their victory, coupled with Pittsburgh’s victory over Cleveland, sets up a showdown between AFC’s last two undefeated teams in the past week.

Tannehill finished with 364 yards and four TD passes. He watched Henry play a huge play before he came to Tennessee.

“He only has a very rare combination of size, strength and speed,” Tannehill said.

The Texans (1-5) participated as two AFC South champions, giving Klenel two consecutive victories.

“We didn’t finish the game in defense,” said Texans star JJ Watt. “We had multiple opportunities, but we didn’t. And as a defense leader, I put it straight on my shoulder, so it’s very difficult to take. . “

Tennessee led 21-10 in half-time. Houston Safety Justin Reed blocked a 27-yard field goal attempt by Gostkowski, who later missed a 37-yard wide left, to set up David Johnson’s 1-yard TD run in the third quarter.

The Titans lost to an injured knee on left tackle Taylor Lewan on the next drive, and Watt dismissed Tannehill two plays later and stole the ball. Jacob Martin recovered for Houston at Titans 4, and Watson found Randallcob on the right pylon for a 4-yard TD pass and a 23-21 lead.

It started scoring.

Henry interrupted the 94-yard TD run and raced in the other end zone in 14 seconds. Watson then took two plays with a 53-yard TD pass to Will Fuller, taking a 30-29 lead with 8:37 remaining.

Titan finished the penalty shootout with an advantage of 601-412 in total yards. Yard’s previous franchise record from Scrimmage was 583 by the Warren Moon-led Houston Oilers, also working overtime, against Dallas on November 10, 1991.
