Due to the recent increase in rescue, they have deployed additional helicopters and personnel for the weekend.
Captain Malcolm Medrano of the Honolulu Fire Department said, “That is, having a third helicopter, at least having the ability to deploy it, get ready, and prepare for long weekends, especially during the summer. “It will really help us,” he said. “That’s what we can do to support the community.”
Other rescue requests are for dehydration and missing hikers.
They have seen an increase in visitor rescue and encourage everyone to stay on the marked road.
